Child Support

The problem of past due child support is compounding. Last year alone, $12.7 billion dollars went uncollected. This figure is added to the already huge figure.

Attorneys have little impact on this huge social issue. Child Support attorneys require a $1,500 to $2,000 retainer plus a large hourly fee. If the non-custodial parent needs to be found, (most do) this comes at an extra expense to the attorney's client by hiring a private investigator. Most custodial parents cannot afford an attorney specializing in child support. Attorneys can only handle child support cases in the State where they are licensed (usually one state). Most child support cases usually involve more than one state.
